Approved ListThe RF Government approved the list of 8 governmental representatives for the KAMAZ Board of Directors. For the KAMAZ Board of Directors there were again proposed Viktor Khristenko – Minister of Industry and Energy of Russia, Andrey Dementiev – Deputy Minister of Industry and Energy of Russia, and Sergey Chemezov – Director General of Rostekhnologii (Russian Technologies). In the list of the governmental representatives there is Ivan Aksyonov – Head of the Department for Privatization of Federal Property (Rosimuschestvo), Karen Markaryan – Assistant Deputy Director of the Administration of the RF Government, Aleksey Pavlov – Head of Management Department of Rosimuschestvo, Yelena Patkina – Acting Manager of Territorial Administration of Rosimuschestvo, and Aleksey Sokolov – Director of Department (Ministry for Economic Development). For the KAMAZ Board of Directors there were not proposed two its actual members – Igor Zavialov – Deputy Director General of the state corporation Rostekhnologii and Yevgeny Fedorkov – Deputy Head of Executive Office of Industry Federal Agency. Friday, 29 February 2008 KAMAZ-Master won’t Go to EuropeThe KAMAZ-Master team refused to participate in the new rally-raid Central Europe Rally which will be held from 20th to 26th April on the territory of Hungary and Rumania. According to the organizers’ concept, the marathon should compensate for the cancelled Dakar. But KAMAZ-Master preferred the Russian championship which will take place in Volgograd at the same time to the East European race. – We had to make a difficult choice, – Semyon Yakubov, the leader of the KAMAZ team comments upon their decision. – But we ought to support the developing Russian championship. Last year we planned to participate in the Russian race and came to agreement with our partners about it, and this decision won’t be reconsidered. Friday, 29 February 2008 Anniversary KAMAZ Engine – Euro-4On 18 February the 2,5-millionth engine – the first from the pilot batch of engines complying with the international environmental standards Euro-4 – came off the mother assembly line of KAMAZ-Diesel OJSC. In the new engine for exhaust gas aftertreatment KAMAZ chose the technology SCR (Common Rail) on the basis of the subsystems of Denoxtronic-2. It ensures abatement of hazardous substances and improves the economic indexes of the engine at that. Soon in the R&D Centre there will be mounted ten power units on vehicles for laboratory and road tests. These are the basic motors for the future stock engines Euro-4 of several models. Production of the pilot batch of 50 units of these engines is planned for April-May. Till the end of the year KAMAZ intends to turn out the first production batch – 500 vehicles with Euro-4 engines. Friday, 29 February 2008 Delegation of RF Ministry of Defence at KAMAZOn 18 February KAMAZ was visited by the delegation of the RF Ministry of Defence headed by Nikolay Makarov, Chief of Armament of the RF Armed Forces – Deputy Minister of Defence, General of the Army. The military observed the new process equipment introduced in KAMAZ-Diesel OJSC during recent years, and participated in the meeting on the occasion of the production of the 2,5-millionth KAMAZ engine. The delegation of the RF Ministry of Defence held meetings and talks with Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of KAMAZ Inc., top managers and key specialists of the company. Wednesday, 27 February 2008 Dakar-2009 in Latin AmericaThe famous off-road rally Dakar-2009 will be held from 3 to 18 January in South America. The rally starts and finishes in the capital of Argentina Buenos Aires, a rest day in the middle of the race will pass in the city of Valparaiso (Chile). The length of this “big loop” is 9 thousand kilometers. 6 thousand of them are on special areas. By complexity the rally will approximate to the African races which have been held during the last 29 years. Undoubtedly, the KAMAZ-Master team will participate in Dakar-2009. As to the short-range plans, the KAMAZ-Master team will participate in the championship of Russia in Volgograd. Wednesday, 27 February 2008 Automobile Transporter Deserving AttentionIn KAMAZ Trade and Finance Company there was carried out the presentation of the truck 941300 created by the engineering company Smarteco (Nyzhny Novgorod) on the basis of KAMAZ-43085 chassis. The double-deck truck tractor 941300 with the laden mass of the semitrailer of 7,1 tonnes and the payload of 11 tonnes has an air suspension with a level control, the electronic braking system (EBS) with the RSS function (Roll stability Support) preventing overturn of the trailer. It satisfies the European requirements currently in force. The vehicle is equipped with the Euro-3 “P-6” engine of 275 h. p made by Cummins. It means that you can depend on the service backup and maintenance of the engine and the automobile transporter practically everywhere in Europe. There is also the gearbox ZF 16S 109 of the next-generation, the hypoid axle, that is very urgent for development of the machinery exploited on the hard-surface motor roads. Wednesday, 27 February 2008 Year of Intense Work, Achievements, Records and New PlansAt the corporate meeting concerning the results of 2007 the leaders of the largest Russian enterprises of KAMAZ Inc. Group considered the main achievements, prospects of the company and problems it will have to solve. Opening the meeting Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of KAMAZ Inc., said that the company got good results and ensured an average 20% growth in all areas. And now the enterprise is of interest to investors and partners. KAMAZ is among the top ten Russian companies which have the highest growth level of market capitalization in the course of year – 73%. 52671 trucks were produced and realized, a business plan is exceeded by 1454 trucks on the Russian market and by 415 – on the external one. In December an average daily production of vehicles formed 216 units. In 2007 export reached a record figure in KAMAZ history – 13,4 thousand vehicles or 25,5% of the total production volume. It gives the company an opportunity to pretend to the title of the best Russian exporter in mechanical engineering for the 9th time in succession. Financial forecasts of activities were also appreciably surpassed. And the KAMAZ Group of Organizations for the first time in the modern history came close to the 100-billionth mark (in roubles) as related to marketable product yield and shipment. The sale brought 12,4 billion roubles, the net gain reached 3 billion 453 million roubles, and profitability – 12,5%. With the increasing demand on the market, said Sergey Kogoghin, the company actually feels capacity bottlenecks as related to the yield and performance standards. Therefore investments in development will become record in 2008 in the whole history of production activities of KAMAZ and will make up 7,5 billion roubles. All plants of the group have experience of realization of large-scale investment projects. KAMAZ-Dealer became the leader among them. The Frame & Stamping Plant also managed to renew the capacities in the conditions of steadily increasing workload. In January 2007 KAMAZ produced the 1,8-millionth vehicle. And now the two millionth level doesn’t seem inaccessible. It can be achieved at the end of 2009 or at the beginning of 2010. According to Yury Klochkov, First Deputy Director General – CEO of KAMAZ Inc., already in 2008 the factory capacity will be increased to output of no less than 75 thousand vehicles a year. The company management realizes that it’s necessary to reach the production of 100 thousand vehicles in the next years. It must happen without the job growth. Last year KAMAZ created two assemblies more – in Iran and Pakistan. There was reconsidered the work of two joint ventures of KAMAZ and its foreign partners. As a result, the yearly output of ZF KAMA will be increased from 5 to 89 thousand gear boxes, and at Cummins Kama there will start the second phase of development of the enterprise. There was signed an agreement with the company Knorr Bremse on creation of the joint venture producing brake assemblies. The plans of forming the modern base of auto components production are being realized. In accordance with the business plan for 2008, it’s planned to produce over 65 thousand trucks (with account of modernized ones). The sales in Russia will exceed 46 thousand vehicles, beyond its borders – 16 thousand ones. There is a task to reach the sales proceeds volume of 127 billion rubles. KAMAZ has every reason to count on the fact that with stabilization of the market and freedom of choice its competitive advantages will become more apparent. This is a variety of the line, the best quality-price ratio, service rendered on the whole territory of the country, the most perfect packages of leasing products in combination with Trade-In and service maintenance of equipment, etc. In 2007 there were set large-scale tasks of the company’s development. Among them there are tasks to prepare for production of Euro-3 engines since the beginning of 2008; to create lines of competitive vehicles of a new generation; to create production capacities for output of 250 auto sets a day; to realize investment projects of the further development of ZF Kama and Cummins Kama; to create the generation of engines equipped with the Common Rail system jointly with the Bosch company. According to Irek Gumerov, Deputy Director General – Director of Development of KAMAz Inc., the tasks are on the whole fulfilled. There were certified Euro-3 engines and vehicles equipped with them. In 2008 it’s planned to increase production capacities for output of 300 auto sets a day. In 2007 KAMAZ concluded 13 agreements with administrations and business communities of the Russian regions. The sales grew practically in all segments and of all kinds of vehicles. Almost one and a half thousand kinds of special machinery on KAMAZ chassis make it possible for customers to make their vehicle fleet on the basis of one trade mark, thereby cutting down running costs and repair expenses. During the year there were shipped almost 19,5 thousand chassis for special vehicles. The number of partners in manufacturing of special equipment for them grew from 130 to 250. Among them there are many foreign manufacturers and their Russian dealers. Financing a customer who leases KAMAZ vehicles the company offers several service packages for all categories of partners – of big, medium-sized and small businesses, corporate clients and physical bodies. Thus, KAMAZ obtains another prime advantage on the market. Oleg Yershov, Deputy Director General of KAMAZ Leasing Company, informed the participants of the meeting that for 2007, the fifth working year of the leasing company, over 760 lease agreements were signed for the sum of more than 9 billion roubles. With the plan of 3750 units there were leased 4412 units of machinery – trucks, buses and trailing machinery. The share of KAMAZ Leasing Company – the leader in leasing of trucks in Russia – reached 12%, and the share of leasing in realization of KAMAZ itself – 9,3%. KAMAZ obtained 11,1 billion roubles of monetary funds in sum and netted 440,5 million roubles. In 2007 clients were served by 6 branches in the Russian regions. 3 of them have already broken even. Large contracts were concluded with the Amur region and Kazan. 4 subsidiaries more will be opened in 2008, and the number of offices will reach 20. The company will lease almost 8,2 thousand units of KAMAZ machinery. The amount of contracts will exceed 20 billion roubles. The activity of LC obtained recognition both in the fatherland and abroad. The international prize “For European quality in the sphere of financial services” and the title of the laureate of the national award in the sphere of business in the nomination “The Best Leasing Company” – are the most prominent trophies among those obtained in 2007. Tuimazy Concrete Delivery Truck Works is the youngest and most developing daughter company in 2007. The absolute leader of its market in Russia achieved a 44% growth of marketable products volumes in comparison with 2006. Avtopritsep-KAMAZ headed by Yevgeny Pismenny achieved a 15% growth of volumes and increased the net wealth of the enterprise by 77 million roubles during the year. And it plans to increase them this year by 67 million roubles more. It was really a year of intense work and impressive achievements. But the main records of KAMAZ are in the future. Wednesday, 27 February 2008 Gas-Powered KAMAZ Vehicles Assembly Started!The only Russian service center for repair and maintenance of automotive equipment with gas engines, which was opened in RariTEK Ltd. in September 2007, started to mount gas engines on heavy-duty KAMAZ vehicles. Gas engines were formerly mounted mainly on NEFAZ buses on the basis of KAMAZ chassis, and gas-powered trucks were only custom-made. RariTEK has the opportunity to produce up to 7 KAMAZ vehicles a day with a capacity expansion in prospect. Vehicles and power units are provided by KAMAZ. RariTEK assembles the end product buying other outsourced components. Friday, 22 February 2008 KAMAZ Increases ExportContracting of export deliveries within the limits of the business plan for 2008 in the countries of traditional sales of KAMAZ Inc. is in good progress. The total exports of KAMAZ vehicles are projected to grow to 16060 units this year as against 13440 ones in 2007. Over 8400 vehicles (7030 in 2007) will be delivered to Kazakhstan, nearly 3600 KAMAZ vehicles (2960) – to Ukraine. It will be recalled that at the meeting of the representatives of the government delegation and business circles of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan there was signed a protocol of intentions stipulating deliveries of 2549 KAMAZ vehicles to this Central Asian country. Tuesday, 19 February 2008 KAMAZ Vehicles in TurkmenistanTurkmenistan and Tatarstan started realizing their protocol of intentions regarding KAMAZ automotive equipment deliveries in 2008. The government executives of both republics signed the protocol on 14 January 2008. The document stipulates that the ministries and enterprises of Turkmenistan will purchase 2549 vehicles in total. It would give them a chance for the Central Asian country to be among the top three importers of KAMAZ. Gurbangula Berdymukhamedov, President of Turkmenistan, signed a decree which provides for conclusion of the first two contracts within the aforementioned protocol. In accordance with them, the government concern “Turkmen Avtoyollary” will receive 333 units of KAMAZ road-building equipment and spare parts for them to the sum of $23,9 million. 322 KAMAZ vehicles will be delivered to the amount of $23,5 million for the Ministry of Building and Building Materials of Turkmenistan. Tuesday, 19 February 2008 Integrated Management System Contributes to Goodwill of EnterpriseOn 5 February “Russian Register” Certification Association started the preaudit of an integrated management system in KAMAZ-Metallurgy OJSC. During four days the representatives of the Association observed how the plants and separate departments function in accordance with OHSAS 18001:2007 international specification requirements and ISO 14001:2004 standard. A year ago a diagnostic audit was held in KAMAZ-Metallurgy. Then the specialists of “Bureau Veritas Rus” consulting firm (Moscow) acted as experts. They visited the engineering buildings, analyzed the condition of the labor protection and security management system and ecological management system. Later there was developed the Program of correcting measures. In spring 2007 a training session was held. The three-day courses of the “Environmental protection” program the purpose of which was to upgrade professional skills of the staff in questions of ecology were oriented to the managers of different levels and specialists of the company. The certification of the labor protection and security management system and the ecological management system of KAMAZ-Metallurgy OJSC for compliance with OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 14001:2004 international standard requirements is fixed for April 2008. Tuesday, 19 February 2008 Swedes at KAMAZOn 5 February 2008 the delegation of HIAB Cranes AB (Sweden) – one of the largest world producers of crane-manipulators – visited KAMAZ. The guests held talks with the managers of KAMAZ Trade and Finance Company OJSC for the purpose of creating favourable conditions for collaboration of HIAB Cranes AB and KAMAZ Inc. via its dealer Shturman Credo+ Ltd. (Naberezhnye Chelny). They also demonstrated their crane-manipulators on KAMAZ chassis. HIAB is a department of Cargotec Corporation. The enterprise has been producing crane-manipulators for sixty years and its production is realized in more than 80 countries of the world. Shturman Credo+ Automotive Industry Holding Company is an official dealer of KAMAZ Inc. with sale and service facilities in Tatarstan and Kurgan region. Tuesday, 19 February 2008 100 000 KAMAZ Vehicles per YearOn 31 January at the press conference in Moscow Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of KAMAZ Inc., named production of 100 thousand KAMAZ vehicles per year a level the company should overcome within the next years. KAMAZ Inc. plans to invest about 1,5 billion dollars in renewal of plant. In May 2008 it will be announced that KAMAZ creates the fourth joint enterprise with a leading world manufacturer. KAMAZ which realizes a quarter of truck production outside the country will continue its globalization strategic policy. Ruben Vardanyan, Chairman of Board of Directors, “Troika-Dialog Group”, said that the stockholders of KAMAZ Inc. are satisfied with the policy realized by the management of the company.
