Transport of Russia – 2008
KAMAZ presented its production at “Transport of Russia – 2008” Exhibition which took place in Sochi within the bounds of International Transport Forum. For the first time KAMAZ exposition presented KAMAZ-65222 dump truck – the sample of a new all-wheel drive vehicle line on the basis of KAMAZ-65224 chassis with single tires and rough-terrain performance. Experts predict that the new heavy trucks will be called-for on the market. Besides, the attendees of the exhibition could see NEFAZ-5299-30-31 low entry city bus with 820.61-260 gas engine and KAMAZ-65115-30 dump truck with 820.60-260 gas engine. RariTEK – the KAMAZ dealer and the main bearer of the company’s gas engine strategy – installed the gas-cylinder equipment on the dump truck. All presented gas-powered vehicles are equipped with Euro-4 engines and use natural gas – methane – as fuel. During the exhibition the KAMAZ representatives held successful negotiations for delivery of their production to a number of regions. Many people wanted to obtain KAMAZ serial automobiles and expressed interest in vehicles and buses equipped with gas engines. Thursday, 29 May 2008 KAMAZ Service in Nizhny NovgorodOn 29 May a new KAMAZ trade and service complex will open in Nizhny Novgorod. This trade and service complex is meant for sale of all kinds and models of KAMAZ automotive engineering and has 10 maintenance stations, a vehicle demonstration area and a spare parts store. The complex is located on Federal Highway ¹7 linking Moscow with Kazan and Ufa. It will become one of the best regional facilities in the KAMAZ dealer and service system and will coordinate the sale of KAMAZ vehicles and spare parts in the region. Maintenance services are rendered here during the whole life cycle of a vehicle. The state-of-the-art technologies are used here: preventive maintenance and backup service, light repair and complete overhaul, leasing of vehicles and a Trade-In program. The implementation of the unified software product ASU-Dieler in the company’s dealer network will make it possible to improve the KAMAZ logistics considerably and react to all partners’ and customers’ demands quickly. The Nizhny Novgorod region is one of the most promising regional truck markets in the Volga region (Povolzhye). KAMAZ cooperates with a number of large special equipment producers in this region: Arzamas Machine Building Plant, Chaika-Service, Samotlor-NN, etc.). Thanks to attention and support rendered by all authorities, the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, KAMAZ increases its strength. The trade and service center was funded exclusively by KAMAZ. In other words, the company invests not only in its own business development without assistance, but also in the economy of the Nizhny Novgorod region and creates new jobs for residents of Nizhny Novgorod. Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of KAMAZ Inc., the city and regional authorities will participate in the opening of the new complex. Thursday, 29 May 2008 Sandwich EngineThe unique product supplemented the KAMAZ engine line: for special equipment producers there was started batch manufacturing of a new power unit with a built-in power takeoff attachment. This power unit – sandwich engine – is the first Russian analog of foreign products. According to Felix Iskanderov – Deputy Engine Design Manager, now there is one engine on a vehicle instead of two ones. There are considerable economic benefits for customers who operate vehicles on the basis of KAMAZ chassis with special superstructures: “mixers”, crane installations, etc. Besides, the new product will make it possible to improve operating characteristics of vehicles: to bring down the price of a truck and reduce fuel costs. Such engines are already produced in the development shop of the engine plant. Monday, 26 May 2008 Risk ManagersKAMAZ specialists participated in risk management training sessions. KAMAZ intends to join the IPO international system, and risk management is one of the components of this system. The faculty of ANO Risk Management International Institute conducted the training. Monday, 26 May 2008 KAMAZ-LEASING is Reliable CompanyThe Expert Rating Agency gave OAO Leasing Company KAMAZ-LEASING the highest reliability rating – “A”. According to Roman Romanovsky – the analyst of Financial Institutions Rating Department of the Expert RA, several factors made a difference in the company’s assessment: specialization in highly liquid road freight transport, a wide field of activity, a good credit history, a high level of transparence and cooperation with mass media. KAMAZ-LEASING delivers financial lease services on the whole territory of Russia, has 7 subsidiaries and an associated company located in Kazakhstan. The general line of activity of KAMAZ-LEASING is financial leasing of a wide spectrum of Russian and foreign automotive equipment. The company has over 140 suppliers and about 800 lessees. In 2007 the new business volume of OAO KAMAZ Leasing Company made up RUB 9 billion, the leasing portfolio value was RUB 6.5 billion, and the volume of the lease payments received was RUB 5.27 billion. According to the Expert RA, this is the 20th result among the largest Russian leasing companies. Monday, 26 May 2008 New KAMAZ Automobile TransporterOn 21 May a new truck on the KAMAZ chassis was presented at KAMAZ Trade and Finance Company. ZAO Kamsky Machine Building Plant presented its special machinery. The KAMAZ partners jointly with the design offices of the auto giant developed the new truck tractor on the basis of the KAMAZ-43085 tractor of 18 t GVW with the 943100 semitrailer of 22 t GVW. There are several handling patterns on the double decked platforms in it. The automobile transporter can haul up to 8 Golf-class cars or 4 off-road vehicles, and also 6 up-market cars or the same number by mixed handling. The total length of the truck is 20 meters. The KAMAZ-43085 biaxial prime mover belongs to the medium tonnage vehicle class. It is equipped with a power unit included in the Cummins ISBe 275 in-line six-cylinder engine with 275 h. p. of the ecological Euro-3 class and the ZF 16S 109 16-step mechanical gearbox. Auto parts by the leading European and American manufacturers are used in the construction of the truck track and the semitrailer. It should be noted that Kamsky Machine Building Plant is a partner enterprise of KAMAZ Inc. in development and production of special equipment on the basis of KAMAZ chassis and prime movers. In the similar class of machinery for already several years there has been produced an automobile transporter with the KAMAZ-5460 biaxial prime mover and the trailer 847700 of 14 t GVW which can transport 7 Golf-class cars. Friday, 23 May 2008 KAMAZ-master: to Beijing for VictoryThe KAMAZ-master team will participate in Transoriental – the longest rally-marathon in the world – which will start in Saint-Petersburg on 12 June. In experts’ opinion, Transoriental can compete with the legendary Dakar by its complexity. 300 sportsmen from 25 countries will participate in the race. Three crews of the Russian KAMAZ-master team, sevenfold Dakar winners, are among them. The route of 10 800 km (approximately 6 710 miles) will pass through the territories of Russia, Kazakhstan and China. The route of the race is very complex and includes forest labyrinths, narrow mountain passes, natural springboards, steppes and sands. The new rally-raid absorbs attention of the sports community and world mass media. 30 leading sports and news television channels intend to report about the course of the race in over 100 countries. Transoriental finishes near the Great Wall of China in the vicinage of Beijing on 28 June. Thursday, 22 May 2008 Development StrategyThe managers of the KAMAZ metallurgical block participated in the seminar “Development Strategy of KAMAZ-Metallurgy OJSC till 2012”. The primary intent of the seminar was to acquire skills of strategic thinking, strategy selection and application. The seminar was held with business game elements. In an informal way the participants of the seminar discussed the development strategy of the enterprise for the next five years which was developed and suggested by the consultants of OOO Dialog Consulting. Measuring Technique of New GenerationThe foundry of OAO KAMAZ-Metallurgy started to install the Contura measurement inspection machine by Carl Zeiss in the measuring laboratory of foundry equipment production. Contura measures finished foundry equipment by mathematical model. The new measurement inspection machine has got a lot of advantages. The main one is increased measurement dimensions (1000x1600mm) that will help to measure large equipment. Other advantages of Contura are heavy payload (1 tonne 300 kg) and measurements accuracy – 2.5 microns. It’s planned to launch the equipment in June. Spectral Analysis for 30 MinutesThere was launched a roentgen fluorescent spectrometer for analysis of foundry goods, ferroalloys, modifiers, alloys, refractory materials and various bulk solids at the foundry of OAO KAMAZ-Metallurgy. The quick roentgen test gives an opportunity to define chemical composition of materials only for half an hour. Using chemical analysis methods the same result can be received for 16 hours. For the present KAMAZ-Metallurgy is the only industrial enterprise at KAMAZ and in the region where roentgen spectral equipment is used for analysis. Components for CUMMINS EngineOAO KAMAZ-Metallurgy will become a supplier of JV CUMMINS KAMA. The main components of an engine will be made at the forge plant and the foundry. These are crankshafts, four- and six-cylinder blocks, cylinder heads for low-tonnage trucks. The forge plant has already stamped test samples of a new crankshaft. Preproduction is in progress at the foundry. There was determined the technique of production of rods for cylinder blocks. There were signed contracts of delivery of production accessories and modern rod equipment. The foundry will start producing the first KAMAZ blocks at the end of the year. The partner’s order is 40 thousand parts a year so far. Friday, 16 May 2008 KAMAZ Board MeetingOn 14 May a regular meeting of KAMAZ Board of Directors took place in Moscow. There was considered the issue of distribution of KAMAZ profit realized by the results of work in 2007. Taking into account the fact that in 2007 the company bought back 10% of its own shares, and also the need to invest in the company’s development, Board of Directors made the decision to recommend that KAMAZ Shareholders´ Meeting shouldn’t pay dividends for 2007. There were made a decision to render a lump’sum material assicnance to the company´s pensioners. KAMAZ Shareholders´ Meeting is scheduled to be held on June 24, 2008 in Naberezhnye Chelny. Friday, 16 May 2008 Record Today, Norm TomorrowIn April KAMAZ Group for the first time produced and realized marketable products for over RUB 9 billion (more than 5.5 thousand trucks and 6.6 thousand engines). In total for the first four months of 2008 there were shipped marketable products for RUB 31 billion 127 million (+15.8% to January-April 2007 in comparable prices) including:
In addition, there were rendered services for RUB 1 billion 815 million. In April spare parts for KAMAZ vehicles were realized for about RUB 1 billion, and diversification products – for RUB 900 million. On 24 April record 252 vehicles came off the mother assembly line of the automobile plant. In the summer months such a work pace will be a norm. There were realized 14022 trucks via the dealer network and direct deliveries on the home market (+18.8% to January-April 2007). The foreign customers received 4687 vehicles (+25.9%). There were modernized 575 KAMAZ vehicles. There were produced 1092 assembly sets for foreign assembly enterprises. For four months 1413 units of the basic production – trucks, buses and trailer equipment – were leased or delivered with payment by installments. This is by 23.5% more than for the same period of 2007. KAMAZ Group leased 329 NEFAZ buses on the basis of the special KAMAZ chassis (–1.2%). Wednesday, 14 May 2008 Board MeetingOn 14 May KAMAZ Board of Directors holds a regular meeting in Moscow. Sergey Kogoghin – Director General of KAMAZ Inc., Glyuza Imanova – Deputy Director General of KAMAZ Inc. of Economy and Finance, Andrey Maksimov – Chief Accountant are among speakers. It’s planned to discuss a range of questions concerning the last year results, an annual account forming, control of the current year business-plan execution, the status of board directors, etc. at the meeting. Board of Directors will touch upon the issues of the KAMAZ Stockholders’ Meeting scheduled for June and a lump-sum material assistance for the company’s non-working pensioners. Wednesday, 14 May 2008 DÜRR Line: Installation ContinuesThe equipment of the second stage of the DÜRR paint line was put into operation at the KAMAZ Frame and Stamping Plant. The area including abrasive grinding, seam sealing and antinoise mastic chambers was connected on holidays. The main complication of the project is that it is realized without suspension of truck production. According to Yury Gherasimov, Chief Engineer of the Frame and Stamping Plant, corrosion resistance of a framework by cataphoresis priming is four times higher than by an anaphoresis method; warranty on cab lacquer coating will be extended from three to seven years. The quality of cab framework painting has already improved greatly. After the third stage is launched the second priming will be applied for the first time at KAMAZ. It is used in Russia only in a car painting procedure so far. “The fourth extra painter robot will be installed and the drying chamber of the second priming will be lengthened on the third stage. All engineering solutions are approved by our partners – the top managers of the firms DÜRR, DuPont, Chemitall”, – noted Gherasimov. KAMAZ and the representatives of Dürr Systems GmbH are discussing a project. It implies the productivity boosting of the paint line from 75 thousand to 115 thousand frameworks a year. Trucks production volumes are growing by leaps and bounds. And cab painting shouldn’t become “a headache” in the company’s plans. Tuesday, 13 May 2008 Labor Protection ContestOn 30 April there was celebrated the World Day of Labor Protection at KAMAZ cultural and business complex. There were summed up the results of the festival contest “Labor protection and working conditions at KAMAZ enterprises in 2006-2007”. Labor protection was always the priority area of personnel development at KAMAZ enterprises. Airat Khasanov – First Deputy Minister of Labor and Employment of the RT, Yuri Klochkov – First Deputy Director General of KAMAZ Inc., CEO, Gumer Nuretdinov – Chairman of KAMAZ Labor Union Organization and Kirill Puzyrkov – Deputy Director General of Human Resource Management and Organizational Development presented the winners of the contest “Labor Protection and Working Conditions 2006-2007” with awards. The best experts and labor protection services among KAMAZ departments were awarded. There was also made special mention of the workers who contributed greatly to labor protection and distinguished themselves. It was a strict implementation of the motto – “KAMAZ is my life, my work, my safe labor” that caused a steady decline of the number of accidents at KAMAZ plants. Sunday, 04 May 2008 Correspond to RF Legislative RulesAt OAO KAMAZ-Metallurgy there were presented the certificates of conformity of labor protection activity to the RF legislation requirements. During 5 years working places were attested on conformity with legislative rules at the plants of KAMAZ-Metallurgy Group. In 2007 there was developed and implemented a labor protection and security management system. All this gave an opportunity to successfully undergo the procedure of certification of labor protection activity on conformity with the RF legislative rules. Aleksandr Simakhin, Leading Expert of the Certification Agency of the RT Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, presented certificates at the event.
