From Steppes with Victory!
Four crews of the KAMAZ-master team took the first four places among T4 race trucks in the off-road rally “Khazar Steppes”.
The race was held on 23-25 April on the territory of Astrakhan Region. The central aim of KAMAZ-master there was to train young and inexperienced racers.
The team showed good results in the absolute rating: Eduard Nikolaev’s crew took the 4th place, Andrey Karginov’s crew – the 7th, Andrey Leontyev’s crew – the 10th, and Ayrat Mardeev’s crew – the 12th. In the same order they took the first four places among T4 trucks.
Sixfold Dakar champion, pilot Vladimir Chaguin summed up the results of the competition, “We held additional trainings already before the start of the race and after it, on Monday. The pilots’ and navigators’ excellence appreciably increased. I drove as a mechanic with all crews at all trainings. Considerable improvements are visible. It should be noted that the race track was difficult, twisting, it abounded in potholes and dunes. There were few high-speed sections, but much work for the navigators there. All our young guys bridged over the difficulties very well.”
