KAMAZ Began to Work as Usual
KAMAZ cancelled the routine of a short four-day working week introduced in September 2009 and renewed a five-day working week.
In connection with the increase of orders for trucks and with a view to rational production organization, Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ signed an order to cancel the short working week.
It will be recalled that the short working week and “start-stop” routine was one of the first crisis management measures taken by KAMAZ’s management at the beginning of the crisis. It enabled the company not to increase stock resources and to considerably reduce costs. The enterprise worked only executing taken orders.
These measures were of great social importance. Thanks to the short working week the company managed to avoid massive layoffs and to maintain social stability in Naberezhnye Chelny where KAMAZ is a city forming enterprise. With the substantial aid of municipal, republican and federal authorities the management of the company compensated inevitable reduction of wages with implementation of temporary jobs at KAMAZ on the days of idle time.

KAMAZ and Ukraine Get over Crisis
On 28 April in Kiev the managers of OJSC KAMAZ met with the representatives of companies of KAMAZ’s dealer network in Ukraine.
Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ headed the company’s delegation. The Ukrainian market stays one of the first-priority for KAMAZ on the territory of the CIS.
In the course of the meeting the results of cooperation for 2009 were summed up, plans and tasks of KAMAZ production promotion in the country for the current year and paths of the further development of the company’s relations with its Ukrainian partners were discussed.
The Ukrainian market suffers from the consequences of the world financial crisis more than the Russian one on which positive tendencies are already visible. Many companies doing business in Ukraine put off buyng new vehicles for their fleets. Distributors of manufacturers of commercial vehicles and trucks in the country accumulate all efforts to stabilize business processes developing new schemes of work to maintain their own efficiency.
459 new KAMAZ vehicles were delivered to Ukraine in 2009. According to the data of Autoconsulting, 648 KAMAZ vehicles in all were registered in Ukraine during this period. This is more than 5 times as less as in 2006-2007 when KAMAZ became the leader of the country’s sales market.
To date OJSC KAMAZ offers its customers a model line of vehicles with improved performance characteristics due to which the Russian trucks rank with their foreign analogues. With the use of the Russian designers’ advanced developments and units created by joint ventures (Cummins, ZF, Knorr-Bremse, etc.) in the construction of KAMAZ vehicles, technical characteristics of KAMAZ’s production considerably improved.
KAMAZ is ready to supply the Ukrainian market with high-quality vehicles at reasonable prices by the moment of recovery of the Ukrainian economy from the recession.
