Compressed Air Saving

Jointly with Atlas Copco, Belgium, OJSC KAMAZ realizes a large investment project in the sphere of power engineering for optimization of power inputs for compressed air production.

Yesterday, the foundry of the Metallurgical Complex of OJSC KAMAZ launched the last of seven new compressor stations within the limits of the energy conservation and resource efficiency program of OJSC KAMAZ. A solemn ceremony held in the presence of top managers of the both companies marked the final stage of modernization of the compressed air system.

Decentralized compressed air supply at OJSC KAMAZ is a large investment project with a budget of about RUB 500 million. According to the estimates of OJSC KAMAZ, its implementation will enable the enterprise to save more than RUB 200 million due to cutting costs for electric power and reverse water supply.

“Power efficient technologies of Atlas Copco in the sphere of compressed air have successfully showed their advantages worldwide, and we are glad that now we can contribute to competitive recovery of the leader of the Russian automobile industry,” said Stephan Kuhn, President of the Compressor Technique Business Area, Atlas Copco, at the opening ceremony. “We use state-of-the-art technologies to produce our equipment, in particular, a high-tech air compressor unit and a capacity control system. It enables to control and measure power consumption according to actual consumption of compressed air.”

Equipment delivered by Atlas Copco is regulated with the help of intellectual central control systems enabling to adjust capacity depending on an actual demand for compressed air.

“Cooperation with the Russian department of Atlas Copco Concern, the world’s leading supplier of energy efficiency equipment and technological solutions, is very important for KAMAZ,” said Aleksandr Zhdanov, Director General of OOO KAMAZ-ENERGO. “During many years, pneumatic tools, compressor installations, generators, and other equipment made by this producer have been functioning successfully. Using Atlas Copco equipment, OJSC KAMAZ has got an up-to-date, energy efficient and reliable system of provision of its production units with compressed air, which will enable to greatly reduce costs connected with generation and transportation of air, and also to improve its quality.”

OJSC KAMAZ has for a long time been cooperating with Atlas Copco. Many of pneumatic and electric tools currently used at the automobile giant are produced by this company. All products of Atlas Copco fully comply with today’s requirements.

Bashneft Interested in CNG KAMAZ Vehicles

The delegation of JSOC Bashneft visited KAMAZ in order to see CNG vehicles produced there.

The guests visited the facilities of the service center of RariTEK – KAMAZ’s official partner producing CNG vehicles certivied according to OJSC KAMAZ’s standards, saw its shops, areas and equipment for maintenance and repair of gas and diesel vehicles.

The delegation was presented KAMAZ production vehicles equipped with RariTEK’s gas equipment running on compressed natural gas – methane. The guests’ attention was attracted by a new CNG vehicle model – the KAMAZ-65116-34 bolster-type tractor equipped with a 300 hp KAMAZ gas engine, a ZF gearbox produced by ZF KAMA JV, a restyled cab, and an Askan built-in diagnostic device.

In conclusion, the guests saw the presentation of a mobile service center for maintenance of CNG equipment and the BI-100 CNG filling station the operation of which enables to halve the cost of methane as automobile fuel, down to four roubles per cbm.

Trailer KAMAZ Inc. Among Top Ten Leaders of Russian Economy

KAMAZ’s subsidiary in Stavropol – Trailer KAMAZ Inc. – ranked eighth among 650,000 enterprises in the All-Russian Business Rating.

The results of the All-Russian Business Rating were summed up on the basis of the data of the state statistics bodies of the Russian Federation. Trailer KAMAZ Inc. ranked among the best companies which, according to their economic activity, belong to Class 34.20 – “Production of automobile bodies; production of trailers, semitrailers, and containers”. Financial accountability assessment was carried out in accordance with the EUROPEAN STADARD RATING which is recognized in many countries around the world.

Besides, Trailer KAMAZ Inc. received a national certificate confirming the status “Leader of Economy’2011”, and its general director Valery Eryomin was decorated with the 3rd Class Order “Star of Russia’s Economy” and the certificate “Businessman of the Year” for professional and effective enterprise management.

KAMAZ-LEASING Enhances Operating Efficiency

KAMAZ-LEASING Group of Companies has organized trainings for authorized dealers of OJSC KAMAZ. The course “Leasing from the manufacturer at dealership centers” will be given from April 12 to 13, 2012.

The company tries to enhance its dealers’ operating efficiency due to the implemented program “Leasing from the manufacturer”. According to the developed program, experts of KAMAZ-LEASING Group of Companies will tell the participants about the development of the leasing market in Russia, competitive advantages of leasing over credit and purchasing. Besides, the dealers will see the presentation of the line-up of KAMAZ-LEASING and learn how to sell these products. This training will help managers of dealership centers of OJSC KAMAZ to learn peculiarities of work with clients during implementation of leasing programs and to offer potential lessees the best terms of transactions.

KAMAZ-LEASING Sums Up Results of Work with Dealers

Leasing Company KAMAZ participated in the 16th conference of dealers of OJSC KAMAZ.

Oleg Ershov, Director of Leasing and Sales Development, Director General of Leasing Company KAMAZ Inc., told about the current state and prospects of development of Russia’s truck leasing market in 2012. He announced the results of the dealers’ actions aimed at the implementation of the “Leasing from the manufacturer” program and set them tasks for 2012. The dealers were also informed about the system of discounts and bonuses for the participation in the “Leasing from the manufacturer” program.

The best dealers were awarded within the limits of the conference. OOO Sim-Avto (Moscow) won in the nomination “The best dealer realizing vehicles according to the program “Leasing from the manufacturer”. OOO Ufimsky avtotsentr KAMAZ (Ufa) was awarded in the nomination “For the best debut implementation of the program “Leasing from the manufacturer”. 7 dealers from different regions of Russia received diplomas “For regional promotion of services “Leasing from the manufacturer”.

KAMAZ Vehicles for Railwaymen

KAMAZ will participate in the exhibition “Production of Tatarstan’s commodity producers for enterprises – members of the Union of Industries of Railway Equipment”.

The exhibition will be held in Yelabuga on March 22-23 within the limits of the working visit of Valentin Gapanovich, Vice-President of Joint Stock Company Russian Railways, to Tatarstan. The exhibition will also be attended by the participants of the non-commercial partnership Union of Industries of Railway Equipment (NP UIRE) which includes the representatives of the largest industrial enterprises of Russia. In the first place, KAMAZ demonstrates its exhibits just for them. The visitors of the exhibition will be able to see the KAMAZ-43118-906078-24 restyled high-sided vehicle with a crane manipulator, the NEFAZ-42111-034-15 crew bus on the KAMAZ-4326 chassis, the KAMAZ-43501-1013 all-wheel drive vehicle, and also the KO-829-B (48332-041-97) road machine and the ÊÎ-505-À (482311-071-97) vacuum vehicle based on the KAMAZ-65115 chassis.

It is planned that the representatives of the NP UIRE will also visit the Research and Development Center of KAMAZ where they will see a new model line-up of KAMAZ trucks.

KAMAZ Reduces Compliance Risks

The Board of Directors of OJSC KAMAZ decided to realize measures aimed at the reduction of potential compliance risks.

This issue was put on the agenda of the meeting of the Board of Directors on the initiative of its member – Hubertus Troska, Daimler’s Executive Vice-President of Daimler.

The largest foreign companies have for a long time been concerned with the issues of compliance risk management under the influence of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (USA) and the Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

According to the British auditing company Ernst&Young, compliance was the most important business risk for 2010. The risk of legal sanctions or business reputation loss as a result of disregard of law and instructions of self-regulatory organizations took the lead over such risks as lack of credit and economic recession in this rating.

Corporate compliance is a set of procedures in the company regulating the personnel’s actions with respect to observance of legislative regulations in the sphere of counteraction to corruption and money laundering. In connection with Russia’s entry into the OECD in 2012, the issues of the development of the compliance risk management system are becoming more and more important for Russian companies too. Top managers of OJSC KAMAZ decided to start implementing effective measures to minimize compliance risks in the company in order to fit the times.

KAMAZ Exhibits Gas-Powered Vehicles

KAMAZ participated in the exhibition of special-purpose production of enterprises of the machine-building and defense-industrial sector which was held in Kazan during the first session of the Industry Coordination Council.

The exhibition organized on the territory of JSC Kazan Helicopters was attended by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan; Denis Manturov, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; the representatives of industrial departments and enterprises from different regions of Russia.

KAMAZ demonstrated several models there, including vehicles equipped with gas engines produced by KAMAZ and RariTEK, an official partner of OJSC KAMAZ.

The guests of the exhibition could see the AROK cargo-and-passenger vehicle based on the KAMAZ-43114-30 gas-powered all-wheel drive chassis, the KO-505AG vacuum vehicle on the KAMAZ-65115-30 gas-powered chassis, the Variopress 211/20 rear unloading garbage truck on the KAMAZ-65115-30 gas-powered chassis, and the NEFAZ-5299-11-31 suburban bus on the KAMAZ-5297 gas-powered chassis. Having examined technical characteristics of the vehicles, the visitors highly appreciated the vehicles demonstrated by KAMAZ.

5 Stars for KAMAZ

OJSC KAMAZ was awarded the Certificate of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. The document officially confirms that KAMAZ achieved the EFQM Recognized Excellence 5 Stars and was included in the list of successful companies of Europe.

Receiving the certificate from Gennady Voronin, Chairman of the Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, President of the All-Russian Organization for Quality, Aleksandr Abramenko, Director of the Quality Department of OJSC KAMAZ, noted that the whole staff of KAMAZ had been working a lot to achieve that goal.

“This recognition is another indication that the automobile plant is the leader in the automobile industry,” said Mr. Abramenko. “The new status makes the enterprise highly responsible and ready for its further development in the interests of our customers”.

The achieved level of the excellence model is not the last one: the most prestigious European award for business excellence is the European Quality Award (EFQM). And, as KAMAZ was included in the so-called “contestants’ club”, its aim is not just to “storm” any level. The most important thing is to constantly improve the quality of operations, business processes, and management systems. The enterprise isn’t going to rest on its laurels.

Excellent 2011 Results of Stavropol’s Trailer KAMAZ Inc.

Trailer KAMAZ Inc. – a subsidiary of KAMAZ in Stavropol – summed up production and financial results of 2011.

Last year, the enterprise sold products to the tune of more than RUB 1 billion. This is by 77% more than in 2010 and by 61% more than it was planned. To add to this, other products were sold for the sum of over RUB 36 million, which is 12 times as much as in 2010, when proceeds from sales of such products made about RUB 3 million.

The improved financial performance is connected with the change of managers. It should be recalled that Valery Eryomin was appointed General Director of Trailer KAMAZ Inc. in April 2011. The main reason for dismissal of Evgeny Pismenny, the former top manager, was ineffective management.

In August 2011, at a meeting with the employees of the plant, Valery Eryomin said, “Developing our main products – trailers and semitrailers, improving their customer appeal and performance properties, we also intend to diversify production as much as possible in order to keep facilities of the plant running at full capacity.” The results of the year indicate that these objectives are being successfully attained.

Trailer KAMAZ Inc. expanded its staff to 555 people in order to fulfill the increased production plan in 2011. The company carried out all obligations and social security programs.

According to the results of the year, the net profit of the enterprise made RUB 17.5 million, which is more than twice as much as the result of 2010.

Governor of Kirov Oblast Visits KAMAZ

Today the governmental delegation of Kirov Oblast led by Governor Nikita Belykh has visited KAMAZ.

The Governor was accompanied by Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Midkhat Shagiakhmetov, the officials of Naberezhnye Chelny. The guests were welcomed by Yury Klochkov, First Deputy Director General of OJSC KAMAZ – CEO.

Nikita Belykh arrived at KAMAZ in order to visit Kamsky Industrial Park Master and to gain experience of establishing such enterprises. Accompanied by Maksim Steblov, the general director of the industrial park, he visited several enterprises which lease areas from KIP Master, including joint ventures of OJSC KAMAZ and Daimler – FUSO KAMAZ Trucks Rus and Mercedes-Benz Trucks Vostok.

KIP Master Inc. was set up in 2004 on the areas of ZAO Remdiesel, KAMAZ’s subsidiary. The charter capital of the enterprise was equally divided between the Republic of Tatarstan and OJSC KAMAZ. The industrial park was established to develop up-to-date, economically effective production of automobile components for KAMAZ in connection with increased volumes of truck and bus production. To date, the manufacturing area is 369,490 square meters; offices occupy an area of 60,600 square meters. The industrial park has 179 tenants employing 3,233 people and showing the 2011 total turnover of RUB 22 billion.

Kamsky Industrial Park Master effectively supports small- and medium-scale businesses and greatly contributes to the development of the socio-economic environment of Naberezhnye Chelny.

Repair & Tool Plant Sums Up 2011 Results

Repair & Tool Plant of OJSC KAMAZ summed up its production and financial results of 2011.

Last year, the enterprise sold its products to the tune of over RUB 1.6 billion, which is by 45% more than in 2010. The enterprise sold 2.5 as many other products as in 2010 and, as a result, made RUB 334.12 billion. These figures were announced by Khamit Khasanshin, the director of the plant, at a meeting with the staff. He also noted that the enterprise cut costs by RUB 25.7 million (against expected RUB 20 million).

This aim was achieved due to the introduction of advanced tools. To add to this, Repair & Tool Plant successfully implemented measures for the development of the Production System KAMAZ. An economic effect for 12 months of last year made RUB 51 million, RUB 12.6 million of which were saved due to implemented kaizen projects.

The plant has also tried to improve quality of its products. Last year, products of Repair & Tool Plant (construction metalware and involute spline broaches) were included in the list of the best products of the Republic of Tatarstan. In 2011, the number of defective purchased tools decreased by 40%, the number of defective tools made by the plant was reduced by 25.5%, and the level of losses due to rejects was reduced by 83.3%.

It is planned to increase tool production volumes up to RUB 103.8 million in 2012.

New Transaction of KAMAZ-Leasing

KAMAZ-Leasing Group of Companies concluded a vehicle leasing contract for the sum of more than RUB 48 million.

Under this three-year contract, 10 grain carriers on KAMAZ-65117 chassis will be delivered to Rostov and Saratov Oblasts. The lessee is OJSC KAMAZ’s new partner – OOO Torgovy Dom Yugo-Vostochnaya Zernovaya Kompaniya, Saratov.

The vehicles were supplied by APH Shturman KREDO+ Ltd., KAMAZ’s official dealer. The enterprise actively participates in the development of special bodies and trailers for grain transportation.

KAMAZ Dealers’ Meeting

At their 16th conference, KAMAZ dealers summed up the results of 2011 and set up tasks for the company’s dealership and service network for the nearest months and the whole year of 2012.

The conference was opened by Sergey Kogoghin’s welcoming address. According to the general director, KAMAZ is confident of its effective development and cooperation with its dealers in the future. “We have got excellent chances for achievement of our ambitious goals,” noted KAMAZ’s head.

Then the audience listened to speeches made by Danis Valeev, Chief Designer of OJSC KAMAZ; Ashot Arutyunyan, Director of Marketing and Advertising; and other managers of KAMAZ. The leading idea of their speeches was that the new system of motivation of dealers combined with strict financial management guarantees the company’s stronger positions on the market.

KAMAZ’s best dealers received awards in 11 main categories and 8 honorable mention prizes at the end of the plenary meeting.

The conferees also participated in round table meetings. They discussed the following issues: “Pricing, Sales, Balance, Return on Sales”, “Expansion of Line-Up and Elimination of Production Bottlenecks”, “Warranty and After-Sales Maintenance, Quality”, “Gas-Powered Vehicles Produced by OJSC KAMAZ”, “Service and Supply of Spare Parts”, etc.

Besides dealers, the round table meetings were attended by the representatives of suppliers and partners of KAMAZ – CNH, Cummins, ZF, BOSCH, Madara, Wabco, Pailfinger, Boschung.

Day of ZF at KAMAZ

Today, on the 7th of March, KAMAZ has organized "The Day of ZF in OJSC KAMAZ” on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the Russian-German joint venture producing gearboxes – OOO ZF KAMA.

Top managers of Zahnrad Fabrik (Germany), with which KAMAZ had set up ZF KAMA Joint Venture in Naberezhnye Chelny, arrived at KAMAZ to participate in this event. The guests were accompanied by Sergey Kogogin, director General of OJSC KAMAZ.

Drive, suspension and steering gear components produced by ZF KAMA are exhibited in the development shop of the Research and Development Center of KAMAZ.

After Sergey Kogogin’s welcoming address, Werner Engel, Regional Sales Director of Zahnrad Fabrik Friedrichshafen, presented drives to the attendants. There was also a presentation of drives for buses and power transmissions. The visitors have seen the examples of ZF axles, chassis, shock absorbers, control systems, and got acquainted with the data on the transfer case at the exhibition.

ZF KAMA Joint Venture achieved excellent operational and financial results. In 2011, OJSC KAMAZ sold almost 15,000 gearboxes produced by ZF KAMA (Ekomid, Ekosplit). The turnover made ˆ64 million. In 2012, ZF KAMA plans to produce 22,000 gearboxes.

New Vehicles for Agricultural Sector

Trailer KAMAZ Inc., a subsidiary of KAMAZ in Stavropol, took an active part in the Interagromash’2012 exhibition held in Rostov-on-Don.

According to Sergey Kosolapov, Deputy Director General – Commercial Director of Trailer KAMAZ Inc., Stavropol’s enterprise demonstrated its products at the exhibition in order to attract large agricultural organizations. The plant showed brand-new models of tractor trailers – the SZAP-8582 trailer for tractors with an engine over 140 hp and the SZAP-8521 trailer for tractors generating over 140 hp. Another interesting model in high demand is the SZAP-6385 grain carrier based on the KAMAZ-65117 chassis and the SZAP-83053 grain carrying triaxial trailer attracted potential customers.

A week ago, Trailer KAMAZ participated in a conference devoted to the results of the work of the agricultural sector in 2011 which was held by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan.

KAMAZ Summed Up Results of February

Assembling 240 trucks a day, the production units of KAMAZ successfully fulfilled the production plans of February.

As a result, the assembly conveyors of the Automobile Plant made 4,756 vehicle sets. This is by 37% better than the result of the second month of 2011. Since the beginning of the current year, the enterprise has manufactured 8.6 thousand vehicle sets, which is half as much as for the first two months of last year.

The mother assembly conveyor of the Engine Plant and the Russian-American Joint Venture CUMMINS KAMA, which is also a part of the process chain of KAMAZ, produced and delivered more than 5,300 engines and power units to the automobile plant and other customers. This is better than last year’s result by 1,700 units or 47%. Since the beginning of the year, these enterprises have made over 9.4 thousand units of the main products – by 3,000 units more than in 2011.

There is also a gradual increase in the production of spare parts to vehicles and their shipment to customers. In February, spare parts were delivered to the total sum of RUB 691 million against RUB 570 million in January.

Meeting of Board of Directors of OJSC KAMAZ

Today, on the 2nd of March, a regular meeting of the Board of Directors of OJSC KAMAZ chaired by Sergey Chemezov, Director General of Russian Technologies of OJSC KAMAZ, took place in Moscow.

The agenda of the meeting of the Board of Directors of OJSC KAMAZ was devoted to preparation for the annual general shareholders’ meeting which is planned to be held on the 29th of June. The board directors discussed the issues of the agenda of the general shareholders’ meeting brought up for discussion in accordance with the legislation of joint-stock companies and the issues suggested for discussion by KAMAZ shareholders and members of the Board of Directors.

In particular, the board directors considered the candidates for a position of members of the Board of Directors of OJSC KAMAZ and the Auditing Board of OJSC KAMAZ.

Plans of KAMAZ Foundry

The Foundry, a part of the Metallurgical Complex of KAMAZ, plans to produce more than 150 t of casts in 2012, according to its director Leonid Luzgin.

He noted that the enterprise planned to sell products for almost RUB 12 billion for a year: it will produce casts for KAMAZ plants to the sum of more than RUB 9 billion, and other products for almost RUB 3 billion.

It is planned that the foundry will increase labor productivity by 16% in comparison with last year due to organizational and technical measures.

“To add to this, our task for the nearest future is still the same: to master the production and localize Cummins products,” noted Leonid Luzgin. “First of all, these are cylinder blocks, cylinder heads and flywheels.” The director said that 6 innovation projects had been realized in 2011, the majority of them were aimed at modernization of production and improvement of labour conditions. He mentioned the project on installation and start-up of an absorptive biochemical unit which enables to reduce the amount of ammonia, phenol and formaldehyde in the emissions of the enterprise.

Growing Demand for Products of Trailer KAMAZ Inc.

This January, Trailer KAMAZ Inc., a subsidiary of KAMAZ in Stavropol, sold its products to the tune of RUB 136 million, which is 2.2 times more than in January 2011.

The company sold 231 units of trailer equipment and 70 units of chassis of triaxial trailers. Such a high demand for products is connected with the fact that last year the company took measures to improve quality and competitiveness of trailers and develop its dealership and service network.

The company planned to sell 630 trailers in the first quarter of the current year, but it has already formed the stock of orders for 750 units.
